Eggee uses a combination of a classic client-server architecture model (ie one reliant on a central server) and a peer-to-peer model (where users share information among themselves directly). Central servers manage accounts, login procedures and routing ensuring that the service can monitor accurately but not be unaffected by the changing presence of the network’s users. For features of Eggee such as: placing a call or transferring a file, where an higher level of bandwidth and resources are required, then the peer-to-peer model is implemented allowing the parties to interact with each other directly, thus have a dual affect of easing the burden on the central servers and increasing the quality and scalability of the service.
PeerTelecom is a member of the PSipTN network and uses as its underlying communication protocol the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) open-source standard that is promoted by the PSipTN group. As it is an open-source technology Peer Telecom can be easily integrated and adapted for individual applications, and allows greater control over the security and use of voip applications.

You need the following hardware and software components:
You need a computer headset, not a telephone headset. A computer headset has two separate connectors one for the microphone, and one for the speaker (some newer headsets connect via USB). Make sure that the headset has a microphone. You can also buy a handset, just as long as it has two connectors so that it can be plugged into your computer. You should not need to pay more than 10-15 USD/Eur for it.
The absolute minimum connection that is required to use Peer Telecom is a 33.6k dial-up connection; HOWEVER any type of dial-up connection will seriously affect the ability and performance of Eggee. To gain the most from Eggee and to have good quality communications we recommend a broadband connection.
Eggee is a communications tool, we do not collect any information other then what is absolutely required and we do not sell or share any personal information nor collect or monitor your usage of Eggee for commercial purposes. For more information you can read our privacy policy here

However, if you have never been able to login on your present machine, and you are behind a firewall or NAT, Eggee may not be compatible with your particular network set-up.
